Why Evidence Matters Most When a Belief Feels Sacred
The beliefs closest to our identity can be the hardest to examine. That is precisely why they deserve our most honest questions.
A belief may be ancient, comforting, and shared by millions. None of those qualities tells us whether it is true. Reliable knowledge requires evidence that others can examine, test, and challenge. Sacred claims should not receive a lower standard simply because questioning them feels uncomfortable.
